WASHINGTON'S GONE CRAZY

There must have been times during the past four years when you looked at what was going on in Washington, D.C. and thought, "These people have lost their minds!" This is why my goal is a return to sanity in government, starting with the U.S. Senate.

"Insane" is a strong word, but what else would you call the following?

* Unconstitutional federal takeover of the U.S. health care industry that is increasing health insurance premiums, reducing patient choice, threatening the quality of care, and impeding medical progress.
* Federal Reserve that triples the money supply and thereby sends food and gasoline prices soaring, while at the same time paying banks to sit on cash, thus suppressing demand, and thereby depressing employment and wages.
* And we cannot forget the Fed's "zero interest rate policy," which is bankrupting life insurers, college endowments, pension plans and retirees.
* $831 billion "stimulus" program that stimulated nothing but the federal debt.
* Massive tax increases currently scheduled for January 1, 2013, even though fewer people have jobs than seven years ago!
* Maintaining the highest corporate income tax rate in the developed world, while job-creating investment goes elsewhere.
* President Obama's refusal to permit the construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline from Canada, a project that will improve U.S. energy security while creating 20,000 needed jobs.
* Calls for government-enforced "fairness" (income redistribution) at the expense of jobs and economic growth.
